Vacations are inspirational. Sometimes, you just need a break from your reality to relax from the hassle of your daily life. However, if you do not prepare well enough, the vacation might turn to a series of stressful events. There are some ways to minimize potential problems that may arise when traveling. Here are some travel tips that will guarantee your trip go smoothly:
- When booking a flight with someone, choose the seats by the aisle and by the window. Leave the middle seat empty. There is a huge chance that that will remain vacant if the plane is not fully booked. Most people favor aisle and window seats. If a person does book the seat between you and your friend, the person will surely agree to exchanging seats with you.
- If you have problems sleeping in, bring an eye mask and a pair of good ear plugs. Get a good sleep while inside the plane. When you do, you will feel a lot energized for your trip. If you are tired by the time you get to your destination, you will not be enjoying your trip to the fullest.
- When packing your belongings, make sure that you place your cash in different locations on your baggage. Apart from your wallet, you can place some cash inside your shoes, or other secret pockets. This will help just in case (hopefully, would never happen) you lose some of your money. You can also use a money belt or sew in a secret pocket inside your clothes when going out. It is a lot better if you bring clothes that dry easily. If you can wash some of your clothes, you will not have to bring too much, especially if the weather requires layering.
- Keep documents online. Thankfully, at this day and age, you can readily access your emails anytime and anywhere as long as you are connected to the internet. Keep a copy of all your travel documents such as your passport and travel itinerary in your email. This will be of great help if worse comes to worst.
- Do not be late when going to the airport. Leave your place early, so that you will not get worrisome when unexpected things such as traffic and forgotten stuff come your way. There are plenty of things that can go wrong. If you prepare early, you will have enough time to remedy things if an issue arise.
- Always bring an empty water bottle. You cannot bring any water bottles through airport security. Afterwards, you can buy a new one and fill it up when you are at the airport.
- Learn how to read a map. As soon as you reach the airport on your destination, get a free map or booklet of the city you are in. Most airports provide these to tourists as guides. But if you think whipping out a map on a busy street is a little too tourist-y, try using the offline Google map feature. Use Google Map when you are online and zoom in on the area that you want to use once you are no longer connected to the internet. Then key in the terms OK Maps to the search box. This can be found even if you are offline.
